The Green Essentials Why
Our journey began in 2007, driven by a simple question: How could we inspire change and cultivate awareness within our own homes, especially in the presence of our children? We felt a deep desire to provide them with the cleanest upbringing possible, free from the environmental challenges posed by plastic waste. This personal commitment became the bedrock of Green Essentials.
In a world where convenience often overshadows environmental well-being, we saw a need to pioneer a plastic-free future. At the time, while society was gradually awakening to the issues of plastic waste, we recognized a deeper concern: plastic had stealthily infiltrated our lives, especially in the realm of convenience. People were largely unaware of the potential dangers plastic posed to our food and its significant role in our food chain.
Our Story
Our Story In 2002, I became a parent for the first time, and I was on a quest to find plastic-free drink bottles, plates, and containers. My search yielded limited results, with only glass options available. Then, in 2007, I welcomed my second child into the world. It was during this time, when my baby was just three months old, that I decided to start this business. I was determined to offer safe and toxin-free food, snacks, and drinks to my children. I wanted to provide them with the healthiest start in life, minimising their exposure to harmful toxins. When the opportunity arose to introduce stainless steel water bottles, I knew in my heart it was the right path. It was a chance to share this gift with other mothers and families, enabling them to provide the same level of safety and well-being to their children. I applied all that I have learned and the products I have sourced for all of my four children, since welcoming my second baby in 2007, followed by another in 2009, and my last child in 2015.
My journey as a parent, coupled with my commitment to sourcing the best products for all four of my children, forms the foundation of Green Essentials.
In 2007, we pioneered food-grade stainless steel water bottles, revolutionizing how Australians stayed hydrated. In 2009, we introduced the first food-grade stainless steel lunchbox, the humble Tuck-a-Stacker, completely plastic-free. These innovations were game-changers, as was our introduction of stainless steel straws in 2010. We were the pioneers, bringing our passion for a plastic-free future to Australia when no other options were available.

Our journey over the years has made us experts in the field of sustainable, ethical, and plastic-free living. We’ve spent years sourcing ethical suppliers and working with manufacturing partners who share our vision of making a positive impact on the world. Our partners trade on the best terms and conditions for all workers and practice ethical business throughout their operations. We’ve cultivated strong relationships with our factories, with our longest partnership spanning 14 years with a family business in India, which provides jobs to both immediate and extended family members.
We’re proud to say that we’ve done the hard work, so you don’t have to. From sourcing products to ethical manufacturing, we’ve ensured that our products not only work well but also leave a minimal footprint on the planet once their use is no longer needed.

This all starts with awareness and respect for all, emphasizing unity. We see unity applied even to the smallest things, like not expecting someone else to pick up our own litter. We see unity extending from the perspective of our bodies to our homes, right out to the further extension of the planet, also being our home. Our responsibility of looking after our bodies extends to the house we live in, right through to nature and all that lives in nature, and our planet itself.
